Here is an application that could be used by many visitors to emblematic places in Paris. The French capital remains, year after year, the most visited city in the world. But its popularity has a downside: there are usually a lot of people in front of its museums or main monuments, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. It is difficult to know in advance how many people will be gathered there, which often makes planning a visit a little difficult.

You can certainly find the peak hours for each place of interest on Google, but nothing in real time. And that’s where the Affluences app comes in.

Launched in 2014 by students looking for quiet libraries, Affluences lists places that are usually very popular, including libraries, swimming pools, museum, and organisation. Moreover, you will not only find Parisian attractions there; the application is already present in seven countries.

How does it work? It’s quite simple: sensors are placed at the entrance to the places which measure how busy they are and the data is sent directly to the platform – and in the case of Paris, to the town hall as well. Louvre, Orsay, Grévin museum… don’t worry, all the main Parisian museums are there!
