As soon as you enter the gates of the Old Town, you find yourself propelled back to the Middle Ages. Indeed, its Gothic-style town hall, with its 64-metre high tower, was built in the 13th century. Just like the Saint-Nicolas church. The lovingly preserved architecture creates an ideal atmosphere for a romantic getaway. But if you really want to impress your other half, make sure the magic lasts past the midnight, too. For all you travellers and lovebirds, here are five romantic hotels right in the city center of Tallinn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s start with the top-of-the-range hotel. It is marvelously located in the heart of Tallinn (just a short walk away from the Town Hall). The elegant 5-star establishment renovated in 2016, the Schl\u00f6ssle Hotel welcomes its visitors in buildings dating from the 13th and 14th centuries.\u00a0And while it offers accommodation with gorgeous antique furniture, everything else is up-to-date \u2013 wifi, flat-screen TV, air conditioning.\u00a0The restaurant serves a buffet and \u00e0 la carte breakfast, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine (if desired).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A little extra from the Schl\u00f6ssle Hotel: breakfast and especially access to the sauna (because we are in Estonia, remember?) are included in the room rate. What more is there to wish for?<\/p>\n\n\n

Our second hotel of choice is not too far away.\u00a0Hotel Telegraaf, Autograph Collection is only 70 meters away from the Town Hall Square.\u00a0This 5-star romantic hotel in the centre of Tallinn is also housed in an old building, although more recent (1878). It too has very high room standards: in addition to air conditioning and wifi in the rooms, you can access a jacuzzi and a spa.\u00a0Beauty treatments are also provided for the guests, which can be a nice little gift for your loved one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t forget to treat yourself to a meal at the hotel’s restaurant, Tchaikovsky, which serves Russian and French cuisine. In fact, it has been recently awarded with a Michelin plate, which is a very nice distinction for its amazing cuisine! The lobby bar offers a wide selection of wines, cocktails and other drinks. You won’t be disappointed. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n

For this third hotel in downtown Tallinn, we remain immersed in the great history.\u00a0The CRU Hotel is a truly luxurious establishment, occupying a merchant’s house dating from the 15th century.\u00a0Again, it’s hard to get more central: it is located on the main street of the Old Town, just 100 meters from the town hall.\u00a0The rooms recreate the historic atmosphere of the place with a lot of taste: antique furniture, exposed beams… On the food side: the hotel restaurant serves Estonian and French cuisine, prepared with love by starred chefs. CRU’s restaurant was also distinguished by Michelin! And the place offers a magnificent view of one of the busiest (and most charming) places in Old Tallinn.<\/p>\n\n\n

Heads up: the next hotel is so much part of Estonian heritage, it is classified by UNESCO. As a result, you won’t find an elevator in there! But frankly, when you choose an establishment with so much character, you don’t really care.\u00a0The Merchants House Hotel is also located in the heart of Tallinn’s Old Town.\u00a0The rooms are decorated in a modern or historic style, depending on what you prefer. The von Stackelberg Hotel Tallinn is an elegantly renovated establishment, located in the quieter part of the city centre next to the parc. It overlooks the Old Town and occupies a residence dating from 1875. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped.\u00a0For an additional fee, you can access the hotel’s spa, as well as the sauna and the Japanese swimming pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the cuisine, the Emmeline & Otto restaurant, housed in a renovated cellar, will serve you quality European cuisine. The hotel’s courtyard also serves as an outdoor dining room, weather permitting.<\/p>\n\n\n
