When we choose a travel destination, one of the first criteria we consider is the weather. Feeling down? Head to Spain or Malta for some sunny holidays. In the midst of a heatwave? Sweden or Ireland might be preferred for their cooler climates. However, there are cities where the weather is quite unpredictable, making planning a trip there a bit of a gamble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help travellers, the energy comparison site Unswitch conducted a study<\/a><\/strong> to find out which European capitals have the most unpredictable weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the study, they considered several factors: cloud cover, frost, rainfall levels, frequency of showers, average daily temperature, and sunshine hours. Each category was assigned an unpredictability percentage, resulting in a final score for each city out of 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which European capitals have the most unpredictable weather?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The riskiest city for your trip, weather-wise, is Tallinn <\/strong>(\ud83d\udcd6 read our guide<\/a><\/strong>, by the way). The Estonian capital, which has many attractions (our top picks will convince you), tops Unswitch’s list with a score of 69 out of 100. “This is largely due to its high score for frequency of rainy days and varied sunshine hours. This means one day you might get drenched in a sudden downpour, while on another, it could be very hot”, says the comparison site. The Baltic states, in general, don\u2019t fare too well. Riga<\/strong>, the Latvian capital, is in second place, mainly because of its frequent rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helsinki <\/strong>(Finland) and Bern<\/strong> (Switzerland) come in third and fourth with scores of 67 and 64, respectively. Vaduz<\/strong>, in Liechtenstein, known for its castle, rounds up the top 5 with a score of 62.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
