A lot of our common heritage is to be found there. For centuries, it was the epicentre of Western knowledge and culture. So, whether the Greek capital is the destination of your trip or a simple stopover on your journey to, for example, the paradisiacal islands of the Cyclades, you will want to see the Acropolis at least. On this hill, 156 meters high, classified by UNESCO, are the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, and the temple of Athena Nike. But what would you say to admiring this postcard scene from your window? We did some research and here are 12 fabulous hotels in Athens with views of the Acropolis.

Let’s start with a hotel that is prestigious but still affordable, if you get there early enough. Located at the foot of the Acropolis, the Herodion Hotel has spacious and carefully-decorated rooms. Inside, there are parquet and wooden furniture throughout, as well as televisions, safes, and soundproofed windows. All the comfort you could need!

That’s obviously not all: on the roof, you will find a beautiful garden, equipped with deckchairs, two Jacuzzis (yes, two!), and a breath-taking view of Athens. This is a view you can also enjoy while eating: the PointA rooftop restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with Greek influences as well as a variety of cocktails. Between the two meals on offer, you can also enjoy homemade snacks and desserts in the semi-covered part of the garden at the back of the hotel. The hotel also has an indoor restaurant and offers an American breakfast.
