Genoa is all Italian charm, just a few kilometers from France. Above all, it is the gateway to the famous Cinque Terre, whose villages feature on Instagram all year round. But you would be wrong to snub the Genoese stage, because the city, a former major European trading port, offers many wonderful places to visit. To make every moment of your trip magical, why not book a room with a breath-taking view of the Mediterranean? To help you choose your accommodation, here are the five best hotels by the sea in Genoa.

📺 Head east. Northern Italy is home to many treasures, like Lake Como. Discover its secrets in this video.

Hotel de Ville

The first of these seaside hotels in Genoais the aptly-named Hotel de Ville. Filled with elegant white tones and parquet floors in the rooms, this establishment is located very close to Via Garibaldi, the gallery of the White Palace and Palazzo Rosso. It is obviously also not far from the water. As for the rooms, you will find all the necessary comforts for a relaxing stay before attacking the Cinque Terre. Breakfast, either buffet or continental but always generous, will be waiting for you at daybreak.

Marina Place Resort

The Marina Place Resort will welcome you with its feet in the water, just a short kilometre from the Cristoforo Colombo airport in Genoa. The rooms – air-conditioned, a real bonus in summer – have modern decor and some overlook the marina. But that’s not all: the establishment has a gym and a wellness area with a Turkish bath. So, you might find yourself struggling to leave.

NH Collection Genova Marina

We are still moving upmarket in our selection of seaside hotels in Genoa, with the NH Collection Genova Marina. This hotel, located on the marina, is just 50 meters from the aquarium and close to the maritime museum. It’s impossible to miss the sea from its rooms, some of which have a balcony. Need to get back in shape? The establishment also has a gym, but you will hardly avoid the restaurant, serving Ligurian specialties based on seafood, for modern cuisine which also features more traditional Italian dishes.

Hotel Punta San Martino

We move a little away from the centre of Genoa to show you a beautiful establishment with a large swimming pool, offering an awe-inspiring view of the Mediterranean. Located west of the city, Punta San Martino sits atop Punta San Martino, a thirty-minute drive from Genoa. As for the rooms, nothing is missing: air conditioning, fine furnishings, and a balcony overlooking the sea. The restaurant has a terrace by the swimming pool and offers dishes and wines from Liguria. The icing on the cake is the beach, located at the bottom of the cliff, accessible in just five minutes by staircase.

Grand Hotel Arenzano

We are staying in the area for our last hotel by the sea in Genoa, with the Grand Hotel Arenzano. This four-star establishment, located on the seafront of Arenzano, occupies a charming building dating from the beginning of the 20th century and has a swimming pool and an elegant restaurant, La Veranda. It has direct access to the marina and the botanical gardens and is less than a minute from the beach. What more could you want? A hearty breakfast? Then you won’t be disappointed either.
