📍 Where is Tallinn Airport located?
Also known as Lennart-Meri Airport (in tribute to the second president who passed away in 2006) or Ülemiste Airport, Tallinn Airport is located along Tartu Maantee, within the Rae municipality and on the eastern coast of Lake Ülemiste. It’s about 4 km from the city centre and serves both domestic and international flights via the E263 motorway.
With just one runway and terminal, Tallinn Airport still caters to commercial traffic, with flights mainly to and from Europe. A highlight of this airport is its proximity to Tallinn’s historical centre. To get there (and vice versa), you can choose to take a bus, tram, or car.
🚉 How to get from Tallinn Airport to the city centre by tram?
The tram is a convenient option for travelling to Tallinn’s city centre. The airport’s public transport hub is located slightly north of the terminal.
Take tram number 4 (Lennujaam – Tondi) for this journey. Running every 7 to 10 minutes from Monday to Saturday, and even on Sundays and public holidays, the service is frequent. The last tram from Tallinn Airport departs at 00:45, with the first city tram at 05:00. But don’t fret, you won’t be travelling in the dead of night. The tram ride from the airport to the city centre takes between 18 and 21 minutes.

🚌 How to get from Tallinn airport to the city centre by bus?
If you prefer not to take the tram, the bus is another option. Bus number 2 connects the airport and the city centre. Tickets can be purchased directly from the driver or at the R-Kiosk located in the passenger terminal.
The journey takes about 12 minutes and is the cheapest way to travel from Tallinn Airport to the city centre at 2 euros.
🚗 How to get from Tallinn airport to the city centre by taxi?
While the bus is the cheapest transport option, taxis offer the quickest and most convenient route (but are consequently pricier). The journey typically takes 8 to 10 minutes. Fares range between 5 and 10 euros. Tulika Takso and Tallinna Takso are reputable taxi firms, but we recommend the well-known Bolt service. There won’t be any surprises upon arrival, and it’s a globally recognised brand.
Car rental services are also available from agencies like Avis, Sixt, Budget, Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty, Enterprise, and Alamo.
