When we think of Christmas in France (or Europe), we often think of Strasbourg. This is only normal. Over the centuries, Strasbourg has become the place for the end of year celebrations. Every year, two million visitors flock there to visit the famous Christmas market and taste local delicious specialities. But to make your stay unforgettable, choose wisely where to lay your head. Here is our selection of 5 most charming hotels for a truly magical Christmas in Strasbourg.

🎄 Looking for the best Christmas market? The one in Strasbourg is obviously in our Top 10 in France. Discover the others.

Hotel Cour du Corbeau Strasbourg

Let’s start with a dive into the history of Alsace. The Hotel Cour du Corbeau Strasbourg welcomes its visitors to the heart of Strasbourg, in a renovated 16th century building. In other words, the place is ideal for getting to the city’s famous Christmas market in a few minutes. What do we find in this beautiful establishment? Comfortable rooms, decorated with Louis XV-style furniture, a beautiful interior courtyard and a continental breakfast served every morning, of course made with local products. For a sweet tooth, a nice choice of pastries is offered in the tea room.

Hôtel du Bouclier d’or

The second accommodation in our selection of hotels for Christmas in Strasbourg is no less magical than the first. And for good reason, both were built around the same time. Hotel & Spa Le Bouclier d’Or is located in the historic Petite France district, in a 16th century building, a 5-minute walk away from Notre-Dame Cathedral. But just because the building is historic does not mean that the comfort is not up to today’s standards. Thus, you will find spacious, air-conditioned rooms decorated with antique furniture and offering a good internet connection.

As for the breakfast, you will be served with an Alsatian and international buffet. There is also a wellness centre with a spa bath, sauna, hammam and massage room. Just to take a well-deserved break in the middle of your Christmas agitation.

Hôtel Cathédrale

It’s hard to do “more Christmas” than this hotel located in the heart of the historic centre of Strasbourg, right on the Cathedral Square – and with a breathtaking view of it. The hotel building is also opposite the Kammerzell House, a medieval structure with Gothic architecture where you can dine if you feel hungry. However, there is everything you need inside the Hôtel Cathédrale: a generous buffet for breakfast, a bar for the end of the day, and in terms of design, rooms decorated with works created by a local artist. We promise you, you won’t want to leave.

Hotel Château de Pourtalès

For the next hotel, we leave the historic centre of Strasbourg for the north of the city. And it’s impossible not to fall under the spell of the Château de Pourtalès. Many great musicians, poets and philosophers have stayed in this beautiful place. Today, the Château also offers a spa with direct access to the garden, as well as a Finnish sauna and relaxation facilities.

For your stay, you will have the choice between two different worlds, each with a unique ambiance. Looking to travel back in time? The castle and its annex, with their traditional style, are the perfect choice for you. If you want something more modern, a third building, located in the park and inspired by the environment, will be just as nice.

Hotel & Spa Regent Petite France

We are finishing our selection of charming hotels in Strasbourg to spend a magical Christmas with the Hôtel & Spa Regent Petite France. It’s a place that the inhabitants of the region know well. Nestled in the heart of the Petite France district, the Hôtel & Spa Regent Petite France occupies a former 17th century mill. Needless to say, we are still in the typical Alsace here. Nonetheless, once again, the modernity is not far away here: the establishment has a wellness centre with a sauna, a hammam and masseurs.

But the best part of this hotel is what you see in your window: each room overlooks either the picturesque district of Petite France, or the river Ill, or the traditional half-timbered houses of the region. The on-site restaurant Le Pont Tournant is famous for its creative cuisine, and you can enjoy a drink at the Champagne bar offering more than 20 types of champagnes as well as a menu of snacks for a quick bite.

Our selection of charming hotels in Strasbourg to spend a magical Christmas is over, but if you have other addresses, please share them in the comments. (Photos: editing Destination(s) Europe / Photos of the various hotels)
